I know I am extremely behind on the updating of this blog, but since I have a little down time for a minute and it's Carter's ninth birthday, I figured I would just jump right in and write a few things about this special firstborn of mine. What he is up to- He LOVES legos, videogames, scouts, diary of a wimpy kids books, lacrosse, riding his bike, his cousin Ryan, writing as small as possible, earning money, shrimp, trying new foods, the food network (cakeboss and Man vs. Food), helping James cook, and a girl in his class named Emily.
We looked through some of my old blog posts and just laughed together about all of the funny things Carter and Preston used to do and say. I'm sad I haven't been as good at documenting about Claire and Hudson so hopefully I can be better once we move (in hopefully about a week).
Carter is such a joy to have around. He is a really good kid who is obedient and a good big brother. He is really great with Hudson and usually will take him in the mornings and get him breakfast and play with him until I decide to get up. He is still an early riser and seems to be getting up earlier and earlier (lately its been around 5am). He also is enjoying art and loves to draw pictures of dragons and other mythical creatures he thinks up. He and Preston also love to buy school supplies from the vending machines at school. For $1 they get 2 pencils with fun eraser tops in different shapes. His best friends at school are Roman and Scott, although he usually plays with lots of kids every day. He seems to have transitioned from his old school fine, but I think it will be even better when he has friends that live close by in our new neighborhood. Since being in this townhome it has been hard since there aren't any kids his age to play with that live around here. He has a built in best friend with Preston so that's a blessing!
He also was very vocal about the color of his room in the new house. Wood smoke is the color and the second he saw it, he said this looks like the color I chose, wood smoke! Hilarious. He will be sharing with Preston still but Claire will get her own room which I think we all can't wait for. Having the three of them in the same room has been rough.
It's been fun to see Carter grow up a little bit and I can talk to him about things now. He gets jokes and loves to hear new ones and explain the punch lines. He is still in the little kid stage in lots of ways, but has matured in other areas. He used to be scared of everything and going upstairs on his own was too much. Now we can leave him home alone if we need to run somewhere for a few minutes and it doesn't phase him. I think he thinks its cool that we trust him to "hold down the fort".
He's just such a great kid. I'm glad he was sent to me first. He has taught me so much! Love you Carter James!!
